APL condemned extra judicial killing in Karachi
(LONDON 9 June ) APL (Association of Pakistani Lawyers), a team of Pakistani origin lawyers, Solicitors, Barristers, and Judges in UK has condemned the extra judicial killing of a civilian (Sarfraz) at the hands of law enforcement officials in Karachi and has demanded the Govt of a stern action to deter the increasing lawlessness post Akhrot Abad incident in Quetta.
APL confirmed that presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a court of law coupled with due process of law and fair trial is guaranteed & enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan 1973 and this incident will encourage furthering the unlawful acts if not bridled, probed and punished at the outset at the earlier stages of this arbitrary killings.
APL has raised this issue with Pakistani Prime Minister to convey lawyer community’s outrage at increasing violence and sense of lack of protection at the hands those who are deputized to protect the public. It has further asked the Govt to enhance law enforcement organization’s capacity, capability, strength and accountability in their ranks so that they could detect, defeat, and deter real criminals who were behind 12 May massacre, Munawan, GHQ, and Naval Base attacks other than killing extra judicially unarmed civilians in a daylight.
APL has demanded that those involved in this killing must be brought to justice so that justice is seen to be done, and if not, APL requests the Chief Justice to take notice if within 30 days a case is not registered and those involved are not tried in the letter and spirit of the law.
