PPP Raising Day
The PPP observed its 46th Yom e Tasees or the Raising Day on
November 30th at Bilawal House Karachi. As usual the speakers
including the rarely seen party Chairman Bilawal Zardari Bhutto tried but in
vain to highlight the sacrifices and achievements of Benazir Bhutto and Asif
Ali Zardari and wanted to convey to the people that the PPP had always
challenged the status quo and would show to the world in 2008 that it was still
very much alive. Only, the young Bilawal somehow didn’t look or sound
very convincing or sure of himself and his party. Even the stalwarts like Qaim
Ali Shah (who mixed up Bilawal House with MQM’s 90) and Raza Rabbani had not
much to offer except the theatrical harangues. mannerism and
gesticulation. One wonders why can’t our so called seasoned and learned leaders
address the audience in a more mature and sober way – the way the Quaid e Azam,
the Quaid e Millat Liaqat Ali Khan, the great Shaheed Su herwardy and many
other leaders of the yore did? They should know that in these days of
electronic media they are not addressing the Tangawalas only but they are also
being watched and heard in almost every home of Pakistan where some men of
reasonable knowledge and intellect also live. Frankly, at present it is more
fun and amusing to watch these so called leaders than listen to what they are
saying!!
