Presidential Tour
There is a mixed reaction about President Zardari’s recent visit to USA. Whereas the official spokesmen rate it as a great success, others find instances in it to criticise. I for one found him conducting himself reasonably well so much so that during the last leg of his tour the President was exuberating a little over- confidence than required. While addressing a small gathering or a press conference yesterday in London Mr. Zardari used expressions like, "I have asked my ambassador to -----" and "My Embassy here has done ----" probably conveying his total control over the affairs.
I though the Embassies and the Ambassadors were that of a country and not of the Head of the State (unless he/she was a monarch). In any case we don’t have an embassy or an ambassador in the UK. We have a High Commission and a High Commissioner there. I hope, we are still in the Common Wealth?!
