Cricket fall of Pakistan? – By Dr. Abdul Ruff Colachal

After successive defeats three times in England so far during the current 20/20 series, Pakistan has been exposed very badly as the one of weakest cricket teams of the day. The team was undergoing a phase of fluctuation in the recent past, but now it is stuck to the bottom level. The weak disposition of a frightened display of skills just showcases the present state of Pakistani society which is now in a possible destabilizing mode. None seems to be serious there. As it stands now, it is quite likely Pakistan would be faltering badly to reach even the semis. But then the final contests would be among South Africa, New Zealand and if possible Australia, if it does not play mischief. However factors like luck, fluke, agreements, match fixing, adjustments etc., would play their own games in the cricket 20/20 series. So, it is not easy to clearly state if South Africa would be world champions of 20/20. Recently, in the IPL India the most unexpe4cted Hyderabad team under Gilchrist got the trophy against all odds and despite the negative attitude of the team members. So, let us wait.
