LSE blames ISI

Quran and Sunnah is the Supreme Law of the Land, according to the Constitution of the Pakistan. The authenticity of the law is determined from the source. When the source is authentic then one does not feel hesitation in accepting and acting upon the law or the guidance given by the source.

But we on one hand declaring the Quran and Sunnah as the Supreme Law of the land meaning thereby what stated in the Quran and Sunnah should be strictly acted upon by each Muslim while other hand become prey to our hopes and wishes.

The Holy Quran has given clear guidance about the friendship with the Jews and the Christians 14 hundreds years ago but we become blind when the flash of dollars or their white skins hit our eyes. We find excuses for making and promoting friendship with them. We send our sons and daughters to their Education institutions for better understanding considering them more civilized than ourselves. We feel pleasure in stretching our begging-bowl before them and when they give us little then begin to curse them without bringing to mind that Islam has forbidden us centuries ago from begging. Whatever name we may give to this begging, after all it is begging. It is begging whether we may call it US aid, aid from donor Countries etc.

I am not against friendship with them but the friendship should be in such a way that even neutral persons may call it friendship, not the relation of a master and servant or Principal and agent.

Our elders are now saying “we need trade, not aid”. But the reality is that we have no capability to compete in any field. Our children go other Countries for Education while the children of the Advanced Countries even avoid visiting our Country to see the unforgettable scenes of the Northern Areas. What is the area in which we are not dependent on them? The profession of begging once adopted is transferred to the next generations.

Army has strongest relations with almost all the big powers of the World than other Government Department. They go there either on one pretext or another. Our Army officers go there for various Courses/trainings etc and spend months and years there. Similarly, the officers of other Countries come to our Country and every nook and corner of the Country is shown to them. In these merry-making activities, they become intimate with each other and get information of many matters. And when their relations become strained due to any reason, the whole truths come out.

Our colonial masters and current sympathizers have blamed ISI for supporting Taliban. Whether the allegation is true or false, the point of discussion is that this ISI in collaboration with the Intelligence agencies of almost all the Countries of the World acted in Afghanistan during the war against former Soviet Union. These big powers showered every benefit and blessing on the ISI in the achievement of their goals. There was no duplicity in the Governmental and private institutions of these Countries but with one voice was backing the Pakistan Army and its military wing ISI. Military trainers of these Countries not only trained the various Afghan groups but also taught war tips to our Army from which our Army was not aware. They used the Holy Quran as a tool to arouse the military warfare feelings both in ordinary Afghans and Pakistanis. Our whole nation was turned as mercenaries. Today we reap the aftereffects of the Afghan war. Against one Soviet Union, all the Capitalist Countries joined and Pakistanis were used in the name of Islam. Islam was presented to the whole World as a religion of War and embodiment of terrorist doctrine. In the people of the World, it was ingrained that Muslims are fit to be engaged in warfare with any non-Muslim Country and they give sacrifice of their life when the name of Islam is used. It was this lesson which every young and old learnt effectively. They were not aware that by non-Muslim they meant only the Soviet Union and not any other Country. The common people were not aware what strategy was behind the “holy war”.

At present, almost all those Countries have joined against those people who were once their beloved ones. They achieved their goals of dismantling the Soviet Union but left innumerable problems for the common people of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Whatever they sent for them went to the pockets of those having guns. At least these people have the right to ask from those who have thrown them in such condition that what they have done for them. This blame game is no remedy of their grievance. If the West blames ISI or Pakistan Government blames the West for non-cooperation, the plight of the people is on the same position. That is why no lecture has any effect on them. They are needy and a needy person can do anything.

For the last two years the Zardari Government is asking the World to help them but the whole World has adopted silence. The World is neither helping the Afghans nor Pakistanis. Actually, the world tastes the taste of fruit of the tree which it has planted decades ago. Now blaming ISI, Pakistan Army or Pakistan Government does not change the situation. If we on one side are victim of the holy war, on other side the World Countries had committed a blunder to listen to the call of the U.S. in uniting against Soviet Union.

London School of Economics (LSE) should also study the poverty in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Only studying the relationship of ISI with Taliban is no study at all. It is totally one-sided and every man of sense rejects this report on this basis. You made and strengthened this relationship and now lamenting it. Why you are spitting those secrets now which you know for the decades. Either you are foolish or making us foolish but you are foolish because you are lamenting your own acts of the past. Deceive us more and more but the ultimate sufferer would be you no matter what may be your military or financial status. Love begets love and hate begets hate. As you sow so shall you reap. These maxims we have learnt from you when we were your slave.

The deep friendship of these Countries would result in such like reports because a friend cannot conceal anything from his friend. Our Government feels happiness when dollars are pouring in but when such like reports come then call them “Rubbish”. Very strange! Why we cannot say big ‘NO’ to them. We cannot and we would not because we are inextricably linked with them since their coming to the Sub-continent.

Taliban field commanders were interviewed by the report's author

A new report claims to provide the most concrete evidence yet of direct links between Pakistan's ISI intelligence agency and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The report says the ISI is providing funding, training and sanctuary to the Taliban on a scale much larger than previously thought.

The document was prepared by the London School of Economics (LSE).

A spokesman for Pakistan's military rejected the claims as part of a malicious campaign against the country.

'Rubbish'

The report's author spoke to nine Taliban field commanders in Afghanistan earlier this year.

He concludes that Pakistan's relationship with the insturgents runs far deeper than previously realised.

Some of those interviewed suggested that the ISI even attends meetings of the Taliban's supreme council. They claim that by backing the insurgents Pakistan's security service is trying to undermine Indian influence in Afghanistan.

The report concludes that without a significant change in approach by Pakistan, both the Afghan government and international community will find it impossible to end the insurgency in Afghanistan.

The spokesman for Pakistan's military said the claims were "rubbish" and part of a malicious campaign against the country's military and security agencies.
