Is he the only Muslim?

All eyes are set on this one man. Everyone is expecting miracle to happen at the hands of just this man. Everyone is expecting him to be the only Muslim. Why Muslim? Justice nothing but justice is in the deeds of a Muslim. A person is not a Muslim if this most important obedience of Allah is not to be seen in his/her deeds. So the question is that why does everyone expect the Chief Justice to be the only Muslim? What about those who claim to be Muslims night and noon? When will they not be able to show justice in their deeds? If the majority are Muslims as they claim to be, then why justice and compassion is not to be seen in abundance everywhere? Why the realisation and effort to be and remain in obedience of Lord Almighty at all the times is not in the minds of the people at large? The understandable reason as it appears is that many simply care not for that terrible, terrible day. What sort of day will it be? It will be a day when loving mothers will just abandon their loving children and suckling infants to fend for themselves. Women carrying foetus will abort the foetus in the state of terror. Every person will be on his/her own and certainly terror stricken.

On that terrible day, the day every soul will be hauled before the Lord, shaking with utter fear and drenched in  sweat.  Anyone’s disbelief will not be able to make that eventful day to go away. Yes indeed it will be a terrible day for most of the humankind. How many of us indeed believe in that eventful day ever coming our way? Not many for sure. How can one know? Just by looking at the deeds/misdeeds of the people at large. On that day every soul will be searching for whatever good deeds they did in their past life. For all of us that life is today, the opportunity to do that good work, we all shall be searching for, on that terrible day, is today. Our good work today will deliver, most likely, our redemption on that day. The wise among us do take heed, indeed. The wise show justice and compassion in their deeds. The wise do not build their palaces here on earth. They build theirs where they will live forever. What is forever? Have we ever stopped to ponder about it?

On that terrible day overwhelming majority of the children of Adam will get the rudest ever shock. Rude shock for what they believed in their past life compared to what facts they are about to discover and endure.  Among them will also be the overwhelming majority of all those who call themselves and think they are Muslims. They will be asked “What did you do to create My Authority on the lands I gave you to dwell?” “Did you not promise, made a vow, made a declaration that you will have no one as your ruler except Me when you recited the Kalimah?” We all shall be asked as to what did we do to make  “Justice and Compassion” abundantly available for all, in discharge of our responsibility Lord Almighty put upon the shoulder of each and every one of us.

Who were the ones who knew the true meaning of the Kalimah and hence went on to create the Authority of no man but that of Allah by embracing, putting into practice and maintaining  Allah’s Laws on their lands? Who were the people who came to organise a set up of the people, by the people and for the people. They were those early few hundred Muslims who knew full well, that the meaning of Islam is “No one to be allowed to become ruler or authority except Allah”.  It was this revolutionary egalitarian movement that took the Arabs and other nations far and near, by storm that this movement spread out like wild fire.

There is no doubt that Muslims gradually abandoned the revolutionary egalitarian movement. A movement of the people, by the people and for the people and instead, went on to embrace autocracy in total defiance of Allah’s commands. It is that autocracy that overwhelming majority of people calling themselves Muslims have read about in history and thus have it engrained in their minds. Autocracy or making one man “Mukhtaray Kul” has proved to be utterly suicidal for every nation and is certainly in defiance of Allah’s command to create egalitarian society. Consultation of the people at large is one of the very important command of Allah.

On that terrible day it is most likely that we all shall be asked this question “When you numbered  in millions,  why did you fail to create  an Islamic state which  those few hundreds of your predecessors had no trouble in creating?”  We should all ponder this question today, as to what will be our answer, on that terrible day.

So why are we losers today? Losers in every field, losers in here and in hereafter. Simply because of our audacity to defy the Commands of Allah to come together to rally round no one but Him and to create a system based on “Justice and compassion”. Justice and compassion for all.

S Wasty
