I wonder if it would not be appropriate and to put the record straight for the posterity that the Supreme Court of Pakistan also examines the legal aspect of ZAB taking over the country as its President on December 20th 1971. Apparently the PPP had participated in the general elections held in the ‘united’ Pakistan in 1970 and lost in it. No fresh elections were held thereafter in the remaining Click here to read Full Article

Come to think of it, Osama in an Abbottabad compound with three wives for five long years, never once leaving it for a breath of fresh air outside?!! The man must have had nerves of steel. Most of us can’t put up with only one wife for more than a week in a closed house. Click here to read Full Article
President in Moscow by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

President Asif Ali Zardari was shown being received only by a Deputy Foreign Minister on arrival at Shrimetva-1 airport Moscow (The News 12 May 2011). I do not know if it is a regular practice with the Russians to accord such low protocol to all Heads of the State on their official visit to Moscow or it was so only in the case of Pakistan? Whatever the case, one is reminded of the days when Pres Click here to read Full Article

Osama Widows by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Neither should Pakistan herself interrogate Osama’ widows nor should it allow the US to do so during the period of their Iddat, which must be respected in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. US administration is well aware of such Islamic laws under which the release of Raymond Davis was secured by them. Click here to read Full Article

PM informed the house that an inquiry into the Osama episode has been constituted under the Adjutant General, Pakistan Army. To my mind, this Osama affair has two distinct phases to be looked into. One. Osama’s undetected and prolonged stay in Pakistan and that concerns ALL the intelligence agencies of the country – both civil and military. TWO, Intrusion of the US armed forces deep inside Pak Click here to read Full Article

President Obama speaking to the nation paid rich tributes to the US special forces who carried out the operation resulting in the death of Osama and capture of some of his family members. President Obama emphasized that the troops had been ordered to avoid any collateral damage to the civilians in the area. He also said that there were no American casualties during the operation. The Prime Minister tasted the bitter pill of his own VIP movement torture on 1st May Sunday evening at Lahore. His cavalcade coming down the Sherpao bridge had to go the Governor’s House. As per practice the entire traffic on the Jail road had been blocked by the police. After waiting for what looked hours in the sweltering heat and his car engine running eating up the costly petrol a person los Click here to read Full Article

Obama Speaking by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Has anyone noticed that while addressing a gathering President Obama rarely looks at the audience sitting (or standing) in the middle of the venue. He sways his head from right to left and back skipping to look at the audience in the middle of the gathering. Is he shy of making an eye contact with them or what? Probably, a psychiatrist could shed some light on his such mannerism. Click here to read Full Article

ZAB Anniversary by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

ZAB’s death anniversary was certainly an impressive event by any count. All those who mattered had dutifully paid their homage in person to the great leader. Lots of flowers and floral wreaths were placed upon the grave before they offered fateha for the departed soul. They travelled from far and near by train, air and helicopters which must have cost them substantial amount. Click here to read Full Article
