End of Chapter – Osama Family Deported to Saudi Arabia
By Zaheerul Hassan
On 27 April 2012, Osama’s chapter closed when his family comprising of three wives and five children under escort of heavy contingent of police officers, first dispatched to Islamabad airport and from there further flown to Saudi Arabia in a chartered aircraft provided by Saudi Government.
Former CIA agent, head of family and leader of Al-Qaeda “Osama bin Laden” has been killed in a sharp 40 minutes targeted but highly sensitive intelligence operation of mid night 1st and 2nd May 2011. The famous character (Osama) of Global War on Terror (GWOT) was present in a compound house located in Abbottabad (a hill station north of Islamabad) when US Marines conducted a unilateral action against him. Osama left bind three widows namely 3o years old Amal Ahmed Abdul Fateh from Yamen, Siham Sharif and Kharia Hussain Sabir from Saudia. It is notable that Sharif and Kharia are PHD.
According to the media reports, Amal Ahmed Abdul Fateh along with her daughters would be shifted from Saudi Arabia to Yamen soon. Sources said that Amal used to be interested to marry wih a Mujahid and therefor married with Osam in 2000 in Kandhar. She reached there in Kandhar via Karachi. Later on she gave birth to Saifa. Initially she came to Karachi and stayed there for 2years. In 2002 she moved to Peshawar, OBL also joined her.OBL use to keep on shifting her family from city to city. Again has shifted to Shangla (Dist Mardan) and stayed there for 9 months and later on, moved to Haripur and stayed there for two years. In 2003 and 2004 while using fake documents she has given birth to two kids (Aasia and Ibrahim) in a local govt hospital. She just stayed there for 3 to 4 hours. She moved to Abbottabad in 2005 along with OBL and gave birth to Zainb in 2006 and Hussain in 2008.
According to Brig Shaukat Qadir report "Bin Laden didn't sleep with any of his other wives after marrying Amal," said Qadir. He stated that at one point, when pressed by Siham's adult son Khalid about why she had come, Khairiah said it was because she had "one final duty" to perform for Bin Laden. It seems that even Bin Laden feared that she would turn him in, and he "kept telling" the other two wives to leave, but they refused, Qadir said.
As per Guardian report despite being apparently cured of kidney failure, Bin Laden was suffering from a degenerative disease, which caused premature senility, Qadir said. As a result, al-Qaida's "shura", or leadership council, sent him into early retirement around 2003 in Pakistan.
Although Osama’s family has been deported after completion of 45 days punishment but Pakistan has paid heavy price of GWOT. But US and western media always tried to undermine the Pakistan security Intelligence role in GWOT. Whereas, Pakistan has killed or arrested 400 Al-Qaeda affiliates person. Over 35000 civilians and more than 3ooo individuals have been killed in actions. According to the statistic released by the government of Pakistan, the direct and indirect economic losses in the recent 10 years total $100billion, far more than $20 billion economic aid given by the US during the same period.
In this regard, U.S. Foreign Sectary of State has also acknowledged the support in the conduct of under discussion operation in addition to the sacrifices and co-operation of Pakistani security forces and intelligentsia in GWOT. But at the same time CIA Chief Leon Panetta gave an extremely irresponsible statement and tried to undermine the Pakistani intelligence and security forces capabilities. In this context, he said either Pakistan was involved in hiding Osama or lacked ability to trace al-Qaida leader in Abbottabad. In his first interview since commanding the mission to kill Osama bin Laden, Panetta told to “TIME” that U.S. officials feared that Pakistan could have undermined the operation by leaking word to its targets.
Lt Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha then ISI Chief personally delivers threat to CIA Islamabad station Chief Mark Carlton: "We will declare we are out of your war on terror and ask you to move all your assets out of from Pakistan, CIA is penetrating Pakistan government".
In this regard the western media’s propaganda regarding unawareness about Osama’s whereabouts in Pakistan is totally baseless However, the unilateral U.S. action violating Pakistani sovereignty has greatly added to the heightened sense of anti- Americanism feelings in Pakistan which has eroded the sense of camaraderie that is essential for conducting a joint counter terrorism campaign against al Qaeda. The episode has further exacerbated the sense of mistrust which is primarily an outcome of such tirades emanating from the US side. Pakistan reserves the right to disengage from US if latter continues to behave the same way.
Apart from material loses; Pakistan has lost over 30,000 lives in war against terror and suicidal attacks. In 2007, Pakistani renowned leader Benazir Bhutto has also been attacked and murdered Rawalpindi. Moreover, U.S., India, Israel, Iran and various Arab states are playing their games while using Pakistani territory. Thus under this adverse security environment Pakistani masses including security and intelligence have done wonder but on the other hand U.S. and her allies had paying their share far below than Pakistani contribution in GWOT.
It is mentionable here that Pakistan is a fifth responsible nuclear power and very much capable to guard and protect her nuclear assets. Her forces has shown its full commitments in elimination of terrorism from the country and never compromised with terrorists. However, she is interested in permanent nature of peace in Afghanistan since instability and adverse security situation directly affect Pakistan. It is true that Osama killing will prove a turning point in the global "war on terrorism" that has been waged since 9/11. His killing has provided a chance to U.S. for implementation of her Extrication Plan from Afghanistan. She should issue time frame of her final departure instead planning some others misadventures. For this purpose she should negotiate with Taliban, Pakistan and Afghanistan for restoring peace prior to her final departure from this region. Moreover, U.S. rolling back will assist in reviving her depleting economy. At the same, European countries and America must realize that at this stage Pakistan should not be left alone to face the repercussions of Osama’s killing. Pakistan should be provided finical and technical assistance to fight extremists’ elements those are trying to cash Osama’ killing.
