The Lion is Back
Those having some reservations for the SC verdict allowing Sharif brothers to context elections seem to overlook the fact that the Federation herself had gone into appeal against the SC's earlier verdict disqualifying them. The judiciary with its newly found status of independence had to stand up to it irrespective of whether in the process the federation got obliged or not. Happily the judiciary upheld the federation’s viewpoint also.
Next, whether the conviction of MNS (right or wrong) was set aside or not, this judgement has set a healthy precedence for the pardoned convicts to be judged again in the light of the evidence not produced earlier.
MNS ‘s entry into the NA is no more an uncertainty. However, that’s not the end of the day. Annulling 17th amendment, denuding the president of his immense powers and enabling MNS to be a 3rd time PM, will be the main issue now. Let's see what the future historians will have to write about it.
