Hijab was banned by AtaTurk, not by current ruler. Before Atatürk, Turkey was the leader of Islam. And i think you don't remember that current president got too much resistance with secular parties of turkey because of the his Islamic views as his wife herself uses veil. Actions speak louder then words and Actions of Turkish current government are talking themselves.

its a nice column and good anylisis.Mr drkjke used soooooo harsh words for writer,that show who's senseless??The writer as i got want to say that Turkey is changing and becoming to muslim world.There is a continous fight between islamists and secular army since 1969.Yes a woman can not enter in National assembly haal with viel but it is because of constitution,And when the Justics and development part get the final majorty they can change the law.Read the anaylisis carefully and try to understand changing Turkey.Inshallah turkey will change its way and be a muslim world leader.

in turkey hijab or veil is banned for women in collesges and universities,while americans allow muslim women to use veil in colleges etc
its a wonder how illiterate senseless and totally brainless people have become so called "intellectuals" in present era!
