Obama Mideast Policy: Can Israel Defy USA?

Time has Run-out for Fascist Israel in Mideast (Part -88)

-DR. ABDUL RUFF

Israel, which kicked US president in his face on settlement proliferation freeze issue, is keen to make maximum out of Obama mishandling of Mideast crises. Israeli leaders, Mossad agents and lobbyists have been extra active in Washington recent days ahead of the Obama speech and his departure to Europe for shoring up support for “uprisings” in energy rich Mideast and terror wars in Afghanistan. The trip comes amid the continued NATO-led illegal bombing campaign in sovereign Libya where the President Col. Qaddafi is fighting the CIA inspired rebel terrorists attacking Libyan Arabs and installations, while NATO terror syndicate is trying to take the control over the energy resources of Libya. Israel extends support for US imperialist wars but in exchange it wants US arms, technology and continued support against Palestine.

Recent years have witnessed a US momentum to secure peace in Mideast, but without necessary sincerity, outcome has not been impressive - except perhaps the Israeli terror excesses in Palestine. It is fine with US leaders outlining the major principles for Mideast peace and it is the easiest thing to do, particularly for an aspiring president preparing for re-election, but President Obama needs to know that his peace efforts need to gain ground quickly so that Palestinians and world at large trust him as a honest peace maker and fascist Israel takes him seriously.

Obama’s Mideast policy speech focusing on 1967 boundaries was quickly turned down by Tel Aviv calling it as US irresponsible approach.  But a bit later, Israeli leader Netanyahu said in a statement that he supported the president’s desire to advance peace and resolved to work with him to find ways to renew the negotiations. “Peace is a vital need for us all,” Netanyahu said. The earlier impassioned rejection of the 1967 borders as “indefensible” was not repeated by Netanyahu but that does not demonstrate any policy change in Israel which generally sticks to all its fanatic rhetoric against Palestine.

Meeting the America’s powerful pro-Israel lobby immediately after his Mideast policy “speech”, US President B. Obama defended his endorsement of Israel’s 1967 boundaries as the basis for a future Palestine and indirectly warned the Zionist regime engaged in genocide operations in Palestine that the Jewish state would face growing isolation without “a credible peace process.” But Obama, as a “balancing act” also tried to alleviate Israel’s concerns that his government was veering in a pro-Palestinian direction. In that direction, Obama told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee that those border lines must be subject to negotiated land swaps.

However, Obama didn’t retreat from his remarks on what it would take to reach a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians. But he added that the result must come through negotiation and an Israeli withdrawal from territory should be followed by Palestinians’ responsibility for security in a nonmilitarized state. Obama says that Israelis and Palestinians will negotiate a border that is “different than the one that existed on June 4, 1967”. That was before Israel seized the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, and a half-million Israelis settled on war-won lands. This creates some ambiguity and confusion. The formula, according to Obama, allows the parties themselves to account for the changes that have taken place over the last 44 years, including the new demographic realities on the ground and the needs of both sides.

Fascism, imperialism and Zionism are against peace. Like Israelis and many American leaders who enjoy the bloodshed in Palestine, Obama is also unhappy about latest Hamas-Fatah unity move.  Playing dirty politics, the extremist Republicans seized on Obama’s Mideast remarks, insisting that he was imperiling Israel’s security. Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said the US shouldn’t apply any pressure on Israel in light of the recent reconciliation agreement between US-backed Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and the ruling Islamic Hamas, which controls Gaza.

Israel promotes illegal expansionism, opposed any “freeze” and has largely disregarded “mutually agreed land swaps” and vociferously rejected the 1967 borders as a basis for peace. In the last serious negotiations in 2008, the sides split over how much West Bank land Israel would keep in the trade. Under pressure, Palestinians seem to have expressed willingness to let Israel annex some of the largest settlements closest to the demarcation, as long as they are compensated with Israeli land equal in size and quality.

So, it is just Israeli gimmick to keep talking about its existence when it is expanding territories and trying its level best to extinguish Palestine freedom flames. It has been habit of the fascist powers intending to invade any resourceful nation to spread first rumors about threats. Israel employs the same tactics to sustain its yoke over Palestine and drive every living Palestinian within blockades or out of the country.

Of course, there has also been an increased international impatience with the absence of a peace process even as Israel skillfully prolongs its occupation operations and genocides in Palestine.  Aided by its wide-ranging lobbyists in USA and Europe, including US leader Madam Clinton, Israel would not let any comprehensive peace pan come into force. The issue of boundaries for Palestine estate is being cleverly used by Israel to escape final settlement.

The basis for any negotiation has to hold out the prospect of success, but Israel opposes that because it does not want to vacate the occupied lands. In order to divert the global attention, Israel calls Palestinians terrorists after terrorizing them with arms, cluster bombs and drones. Can the besieged Hamas Palestinians really destroy a mighty nuclear power and an illegal entity, the fascist Israeli regime imposed in Mideast by the western terrocracies?  Can an ordinary Osama or any other “sama” destroy the mightiest power on earth, the global dictator USA? Obviously, no!

Of course going by the past experiences, Palestinians feel frustrated with peace talks and they consider it a waste of time to talk about a peace process. Free from illusions, Hamas said it wouldn’t recognize the Israeli “occupation” and that it, too, rejected Obama’s reference to the 1967 borders. Palestine says it is a mistake to consider the US as an honest sponsor for the so-called peace process. Palestinians do not have much trust in what the Israeli regime and its western sponsors say about credible peace without substance and sincerity. Chief Palestinian (Fatah) negotiator Saeb Erekat refused to address the government’s reconciliation with Hamas or Obama’s opposition to Palestinian efforts at the UN. He called for the Israeli leader Netanyahu to hold peace talks according to Obama’s principles.

Obama speech is all about peace in Mideast. It is certain that once Washington makes clear to Israel its resolve to make establishment of Palestine is a sincere humanitarian mission for realty, Israel will obey USA. Tel-Aviv is bound by American aid and support. So far, Israel has played it terror card well in Mideast, killing thousands of innocent Palestinians, because USA let it do by supplying latest weaponry.  USA and Israel have strong military and intelligence networks awfully engaged in destabilization and subversive strategies around the world. In addition, Israel has profitably employed its lobbyists in USA and elsewhere in such way as to avert any crash in US-Israeli military ties.

On the one hand, Israel refuses to surrender sovereignty back to Palestinians by quitting the Palestinian territories and USA & UNSC, which promote Israeli fascism and, as a routine matter, keeps condemning the Palestinians for reacting violently to Israeli terror attacks, refuse to force an illegal Israeli regime to settle the illegal dispute in favor of Palestinians. On the other, Obama flatly opposed a Palestinian drive to win UN recognition for an independent state, even without a peace deal with an arrogant Israel.

Obama’s action is urgent since Israel systematically destroys Palestine as well as peace plans mooted by international community led by USA-UK terror twins. In the absence of a credible peace process the impulse of the Palestinians to abandon negotiations as well as the march to isolate Israel internationally will continue to gain momentum- achieving nothing constructively to match the peace efforts.  Israel seeks exactly that!

Israel hang around America like a monstrous snake threatening Palestinians and humanity.  Obama’s efforts to neutralize Israeli influence on White House have not succeeded and now he might as well consider himself besieged and also drawn into Israeli cobweb. He is unable to either restrain Israeli terrorism or make them realize the need for consent for the establishment of Palestine. But if he is really sincere enough Obama must act now. Will Obama somehow mange now to impress upon the Israeli leaders that he is serious about Palestine state to come into existence as early as possible? Is it a trillion dollar question?
