Price Rise:Only lower classes are Hit

While lower classes have been badly shaken by the exorbitant price rises in essential commodities, middle class families have begun cutting expenses. It looks as though the rich classes don't' even are aware of any such thing called price rise and they keep spending mercilessly and searching for new, more expensive vehicles and other luxury items. Indian agencies also arrange for special foreign tours for these special people to tour the world with necessary concessions form the government.

Former chief of Reserve bank of India and now Indian premier Manmohan Singh, as a 'close ally" of the capitalist USA and a spokesman for the well-to-do is bothered as to how make the rich richer and thus far even the leftists, who are supposed fight for the rights of the poor and working classes, had strengthened Singh's hands in achieving his goals to some extent. And in fact the present UPA regime has had a good time making every possible profit.

Indian media are concerned only about the rich and the car owners' interests as all these media lords are enjoying life at the cost the poor in the country and Manmohan has enhanced the lots of this parasitic class enormously.

Rising inflation that has already hit a 13-year high at 11.98 percent has pinched the middle class most. The survey said the double-digit inflation and higher cost of money did not affect the high-income group (HIG) during the period as it did not imbalance their earnings and spending. A recent study has displayed an alarming situation when higher inflation and increasing interest rates have forced middle class consumers to cut back their spending on shopping, amusement and eating out by nearly 55 percent in the last one year, according to a survey by an industry lob sections by.

Yet, the Indian leaders who share the profits are not dismayed or worried. The survey said middle class consumers slashed their entertainment and luxury spending by 55 percent, which has come down from Rs.5, 000-Rs.6, 000 per month to less than Rs.2, 800.

Under protection and encouragement from the ruling dispensations, one after the other, the high income group of the country remained totally immune with rising cost of economy as their income levels hardly got severed with rising cost of inputs'. 'On an average, monthly spending of the HIG on shopping, amusements and eating out is estimated over Rs.20,000 which was almost the same when the inflation was within the limit of seven percent. The survey added that the HIG, particularly the younger lot and working couples with double income, spends more than 30 percent of their income on clothes, shoes, movies, and buying CDs of films and music on weekends.

High income group is the most pampered lot in the country in every state. The Indian state has offered all possible avenues and facilities for the rich sections for support in return during the election. This group's commuting patterns, mostly by cars, also remained unaffected despite sky-high fuel costs. While the urban men spend almost Rs.400-Rs.1, 000 per month on wasteful items like cigarettes, gutkha and pan, urban women spend around Rs.300-Rs.1, 200 per month on cosmetics and beauty treatments. Also with the rising number of shopping malls, retail outlets and discount sale in the major metros, most of the urban younger populace continues to purchase branded items for themselves even when they don't require it.

Clearly, India and other developing countries are least bothered about the poor, rather they work against their legitimate rights to live. India since its independence in 1947 always has worked, quite with some measure of success, against the genuine interests of one section or the other. It works against Muslims, against Kashmirs, against Bangladeshis, Lankans and of course against Pakistan, the chief target of Indian envy and attack. Side by side, the Indian poor have been made poorer, and the Muslims fully marginalized. The Muslims in India and Kashmir are sections worst hit by the calculated price rises by the rich nations led by the G8 plus.

For every thing the government is doing the media readily extents their voluntary support in return of special privileges, and other "usual" benefits from the governments and top politicians and bureaucrats.
