Blood
and Water
By: Maqsood Jafri
We are told blood is thicker than water.
Blood has color, smell and various groups.
It is condensed when shed and leaves spots.
Water is insipid, colorless and has no taste.
One should not worry if it abundantly goes waste,
Blood signifies relations, passions and affinities.
Water can not tie us and has no binding force.
No one can deny these natural solid verities.
These are the fictitious tales like untrue fiction.
I see the brother against the mother with malice.
You can vividly note the differences in their diction.
Who killed the mother of Hamlet in cold blood?
The brother killed the King and usurped the power.
Abel burned in the fire of jealousy and killed Cain.
He lit the first candle of desperation and disdain.
The so called saint of India known as Aurangzaib.
Imprisoned his father Shahjehan and blinded him.
The lust of throne and scepter blinkered his eyes.
He hovered around the sugar like dirty winged flies.
The blood running in their veins was poisonous.
The pure water is better than the impure blood.
When the interests clash, no blood relation matters.
It tears the garment of grace piercing it in to tatters.
Living in glass house they shamelessly throw stones.
They break the legs of the poor with the rattling bones.
