PESA Standing Guards
It was indeed heartening to read the news (Pakistan Observer 25 Sept. 2013) that the Pakistan Ex Servicemen Association - PESA has decided to provide security on its own to the churches in Pakistan through its ex-servicemen members, who are found all over the country. The overall security measures shall be co-ordinated by Brigadier SamsonSimon Sharaf (Retd) – a founding member of PESA and a person of great organizing abilities and human feelings who rendered his selfless and untiring services during the 2010 floods and before that in the October 2005 earthquake.
The extremists have started targeting the minorities also, especially their places of worship and it would, therefore, be quite in order to provide similar security to the Mandirs, Gurdwaras, Budh and other Communities’ Temples also. Govt. must take the cue from PESA and come out with a comprehensive plan to protect and provide security to all minorities straight away and thwart the nefarious designs of the perpetrators rather than bemoan and lament lamely later once the enemies of Pakistan have struck.
