Well Done All
It would be highly unfair not to compliment the administration at all tiers,
especially the police all over the country, for taking excellent security
measures and doing their job very well during the Ashra e Muharram. Ensuring
the safety of thousands and thousands of mourners in hundreds of processions
stretched over miles and miles round the clock day and night in scores of
small, medium and large cities of Pakistan was no mean task, and our hats off
to those who planned such fool proof security measures and then executed them
so proficiently that not only not a single untoward incident was allowed to
occur but many an attempt by the terrorists that could have been horrendous was
foiled by their dutiful vigilance and professionalism. It must have caused great
deal of disappointment and frustration to the extremists who would again be
looking for an opportunity to strike during the period up to the Chaleeswan
when various majalis shall be held and processi ons taken out at
different places. I am sure that the administration and the Police shall
not lower their guards and once again ensure the safety of all as before. Well
done all, Sirs, keep it up. We are proud of you all.
Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
P.S. Though the Rawalpindi incident has somewhat marred the overall
safe and secure scenario but, that was purely on account of sectarianism and
nothing to do with the terrorists. However, a point of concern does arise
as to how the antagonists were able to get hold of fire arms that quickly and
from where without being detected?! Jafri.
