Vulgarity in Ads
M S Hasan (NewsPost January 4th) is not only struck with the high standard of morality of Wing-Cdr Farhad Ali Shah (Retd) for cancelling his cell phone account on account of the telecom company's vulgar commercials (NewsPost January 3rd) but has also subjected the Wing-Cdr to a manner of sarcasms bordering ridicule. He goes on to say that as he neither sees nor hears any vulgarity in the ad he is extremely worried that he may be suffering from serious medical conditions of hearing and sight impairment for which he will be setting appointments with his ophthalmologist and the ENT physician. Mr. Hasan, I think there is nothing wrong with your eyes or ears. There are known cases in the medical history of persons having perfect eyes and ears and yet 'efusing' to see and listen. They were successfully treated by the psychiatrists for their syndromes. After your treatment, I am sure you will also be able to notice the enticing and inviting body language and its sensual movements coupled with the seductive, suggestive and sexy voice asking for "˜activating the new connection'. Have I to explain what is "˜new connection' or what does "˜activating' it mean? I think I will give your intelligence some credit to know what they mean when a coquettish young girl with a mischievous smile and a twinkle in her eyes confides these most flirtatiously to her equally mod squad of a girl friend. If you still fail to comprehend anything objectionable, please try soliciting the views on the ad from your teenage daughter or sister.
Mr. Hasan, there are still many even in this 21st century "“ as you say "“ who cannot allow such permissivety in their households. Where is our Film Censor Board and what is is it doing?
Truly
