There is an un-necessary hullabaloo all over the media about the three cricketers sentenced to various terms of imprisonment by a British Judge. To be honest, they have been let off rather lightly, for, from their very looks – long unkempt hair, unshaven chins, open shirt buttons down to the navel and hands in trousers pockets walking nonchalantly into the court room in a manner bordering disrespe Click here to read Full Article

There we go again. Mufti Munib and his team straining with squint eyes to locate the moon through binoculars atop some sky scraper! Two things come to my mind. Is it Islamic to use a modern gadget like a binocular for sighting the moon against the much professed the naked eye? If yes, then why not use the other available advanced space technologies also for determining the ruet? Click here to read Full Article

Professor Chaman Lal sent the following highly thought provoking Diwali greetings on the net, which allow me to share with you all. I have added one trait at the end in red which I think is considerably marring the interfaith harmony. Click here to read Full Article

PakistanRailwaysforms the life line of the country by catering to its needs for large scale movement of freight as well as passenger traffic. One was, therefore, not only surprised but shocked to listen to the insensible apathy of the Honourable Federal Click here to read Full Article

The Election Commission has suspended the membership of 231 lawmakers for not declaring their assets. In it there are a few ministers at the federal and provincial levels as well. As it is a constitutional requirement for a minister to be a member of the house, don’t these suspended parliamentarians automatically cease to remain ministers any more? If yes, what is the legal position of their off Click here to read Full Article

Government is trying its best to cope up with the power shortage by introducing power saving measures such as two days off a week, early closing of markets and shopping centres, replacing ordinary electric bulbs with energy savers, restrictions on lighting and commercial signs etc. However, yet another huge source of power consumption has escaped its attention either by design or default. Government has shown an unusual alacrity in publishing the notification appointing Admiral Fasih Bokhari (Retd) as the chairman NAB on a Sunday holiday. Whatever be the reasons it is a most welcome step which restores one’s confidence in the government that the merit is still recognised by it. What little I know of him it can be said without any fear of contradiction that the Admiral is not only Click here to read Full Article

Most politicians are elected on the basis of the promises they make to serve the masses of their constituencies. However, the after-election scenario is always different. Their sudden transformation from the ordinary to sublime not only changes their psyche but also makes them highly conscience of their newly found VVIP status and the privileges claimed right or wrong between which unfortunately Click here to read Full Article
US Pak Relations by Col.Riaz Jafri (Retd)62

Never have been before the Pak-US relations at such a low ebb. US seems to have come far from the days when she used to request Pakistan to ‘do more’ to its present dictating stance of ‘do away with the Haqqani group”. The diktat is not only confined to the speeches and statements but has also veiled threats of sorts – economic as well as military intervention. People are talking openly of the pos Click here to read Full Article
