Recently a very appropriate and meaningful slogan has started appearing in the media – both electronic and print, pronouncing , “Pakistan ka matlab kia – Padhney likhney ke sewa”. I want to congratulate the person who conceived of this powerful slogan so essential for the progress of Pakistan and wish it could be given still wider publicity through bill boards, postage stamps, envelops, and othe

The PM very rightly said on the floor of the house that if Pakistan is to be made a safe country to live in for its every daughter then we have to fight the menace of terrorism which is essentially an outcome of a typical mindset of the extremists. While Islam preaches acquisition of knowledge for all – men and women, these extremists blow up the very founts of knowledge – the schools and kill th

A lot is being discussed on TV shows and written in the print media about Imran Khan’s announced ‘Aman march’ to Wazirastan but which ended with his speech at the Jahaz Ground, Tank, a few miles short of its destination. The detractors looking visibly pleased for his not making it to the end conveniently forget the APCs, the containers and other impediments placed in the path of the marchers

Yet another date – October 10th - has been given by the SCP to the Minister of Law to put up the draft of the letter to be written to the Swiss authorities for the approval of the apex court. This exercise has been going on for quite some time now and one fails to understand as to what is so difficult in wording a simple letter of cancellation.

Ostensibly there seems nothing wrong with the six points raised by Sardar Akhtar Mengal. But what was surprising was his likening them to the Six Points of Mujib ur Rehman. Far from it. Mujib’s points had the seeds of secession in them. Whereas, ’s points, as he himself says, contain nothing against the constitution of Pakistan. If we analyze the points one by one, again some of them are found

Some of our female TV artists (News casters and anchors) have started wearing skin tight skin coloured shirts which on the first sight make them look like wearing a very bold sleeveless and a low neck shirt. One wonders what they are up to and what do they want to look like to their viewers in such an attire? I will not talk of it being Islamic or un Islamic but such a dress is certainly outland

The recent developments in Balochistan do give me a concern and I can’t dismiss easily working of some foreign hand(s) behind it all, with the specific designs and interest of their having a physical control over this most important strategic area. As they say, in international politics, there are no permanent friends or foes; only permanent interests, Pakistan must, therefore, protect at all cost
