Shakeel Anjum’s investigative reporting (City News Nov. 3rd) on Corruption in Corruption Free Department - NH&M Police - made some startling disclosures. Allegedly the head of the department is having 10 luxury and other expensive vehicles in his and his family’s use! Some of the Ex-IGs, serving bureaucrats, some other retired officers are still retaining expensive vehicles, some two of them alon Click here to read Full Article

I wonder what are the Dress Regulations for the wearing of the uniform in the army these days. In a recently passing out parade of the 126th PMA Long Course the cadets were shown in summer uniform with their sleeves rolled up (as used to be the norm in the days bygone) while the rest of the army wears the summer uniform shirts with sleeves fully rolled down now a days (probably to avoid their arm Click here to read Full Article

One Rank One Pension by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

The woeful tale of an ex-serviceman of the PAF getting Rs. 6,000/- only per month pension that appeared in the papers a few days ago is not a solitary case of misery only. There are thousands of such Old Pensioners like him suffering in silence and resigning to the inevitable feeling of helplessness in this matter. Their pension is less than half that of the new pensioners. The skyrocketing price Click here to read Full Article
The Young Governor by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

It was a pleasure watching on the TV the Sindh Governor Ishrat ul Abaad at the Karachi cricket stadium in a T Shirt and a fresh hair cut that had turned him into a an athletic and healthy looking young sportsman. The removal of his heavy sideburns that used to cover his ears and added years to his real age, made him look Click here to read Full Article

Once again the Ruet e Hilal Committee has announced that our Eid ul Azha will fall on Saturday 27 October 2012, that is one day after it would be observed at Makkah. This means that our Hajj will occur on Friday 26th October 2012, whereas the ACTUAL Hajj at Mecca will be performed on Thursday the 25th of October 2012 ! Could anyone please tell me as to why don’t we observe Hajj in Pakistan on the Click here to read Full Article

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 154 parliamentarians and members of provincial assemblies, including Interior Minister Rehman Malik and a few more powerful law makers, for failing to submit details of their assets by the due date. Barbaric Murder of SP Khurshid Khan Alizai by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 16/Oct/2012 Views:1806 Replies:2
Horrendous is too mild a word for the slaughter of SP Khurshid Khan Alizai and then carrying away of his head by the 300 strong terrorists who attacked Matni police post near Peshawar as reported in the papers. It was simply a barbaric act smacking of some deep hatred for the law enforcing agencies by the attackers and reminiscent of the pagan days where the head of the Click here to read Full Article
Karachi Killings by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Not a day passes when a dozen or so innocent people are not killed in Karachi, mostly on account of preplanned target killing. Though the law enforcing agencies are blamed for their incompetency to control the crime yet, I think it is just beyond them. The main reason is that the terrorists have the initiative to chose the time, place and the target which is not known to the law enforcement for Click here to read Full Article

Knowledge and Malala by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Recently a very appropriate and meaningful slogan has started appearing in the media – both electronic and print, pronouncing , “Pakistan ka matlab kia – Padhney likhney ke sewa”. I want to congratulate the person who conceived of this powerful slogan so essential for the progress of Pakistan and wish it could be given still wider publicity through bill boards, postage stamps, envelops, and othe Click here to read Full Article
Menace of Terrorism by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

The PM very rightly said on the floor of the house that if Pakistan is to be made a safe country to live in for its every daughter then we have to fight the menace of terrorism which is essentially an outcome of a typical mindset of the extremists. While Islam preaches acquisition of knowledge for all – men and women, these extremists blow up the very founts of knowledge – the schools and kill th Click here to read Full Article
