It is quite customary and ritualistic for the world leaders to greet and extend their good wishes to the winner of the general elections of a country who is likely to form the next government. However, it is not so perfunctory with the US president Mr. Barack Hussein Obama when he greets Mian Nawaz Sharif and felicitates him on his success. He has a definite interest bordering heavy stake in Paki Click here to read Full Article

MNS The Statesaman by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Though I didn’t vote for the PML (N) yet the statesman like conduct of Mian Nawaz Shareef of the last two days has forced me not only to congratulate him on his victory but also welcome him to lead the nation. His very first proclamation of carrying along every political party with him that would strengthen Pakistan was a happy augury and he proved that by declaring that the PTI being the majority Click here to read Full Article

Today is the election day. The leaders have as usual promised moons and stars to the masses without meaning an iota of it. Once elected, they would again turn to the same looting and plundering with complete impunity and without any fear of accountability what so ever. Click here to read Full Article

Bilawal & Party by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Bilawal is shown histrionically hollering in an ad: “Khoon Chahiey, khoon deingey hum”. “ Sar chahiey, sar deingey hum”, “Jaan chahiey, jaan deingey hum”. But his party says, “He can’t lead election campaign for fear of threats to his life”. Click here to read Full Article

Our cook asked for leave to go to his village to cast his vote. Out of sheer curiosity I enquired as to who will he vote for. “I don’t know”, was his simple reply. “I will just bring the ballot paper out and get Rs. 3,000/- for it”. What … smuggle the ballot paper out and not put it in the ballot box? How was it possible? Is the ballot box not kept under the constant vigil and view of the pres Click here to read Full Article

NONE OF THE ABOVE BY Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 1/May/2013 Views:1120 Replies:0
The ECP yielding to the politicians’ request has removed the “None of the Above” box from the ballot papers. The politicians’ point of view was that anybody not wishing to vote for any of the contestants would not come to the polling station in the first place just to stamp the said box! Okay, agreed and let’s accept their view point. But if the turn out in any constituency is less Click here to read Full Article
Islamic Trade & Business BY Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

The Islamic system of business, trade and finance management (banking) is said to be the best as it will not allow any exploitation of the lower and middle classes and that the distribution of the wealth will be equitable. However, our history tells us differently. There was rarely, if ever, any middle class and it were only the rich or the poor in our early days as well as during the later Khi Click here to read Full Article

With less than a dozen days left to the polls – May 11th - the electioneering fervor is on its peak. The party leaders are frantically holding public meetings – at times thrice a day – and promising moon to the innocent and naïve masses. They claim to eradicate poverty, power and gas load shedding, unemployment and joblessness and offer better and free education, healthcare, interest free loans Click here to read Full Article

Musharraf is being castigated by all and sundry left and right for many things including the drone strikes in Pakistan. Yes, Musharraf did allow the use of drones but has anyone also given it a thought – why. Are the drone strikes doing harm to Pakistan or good? Who are they used against and actually kill whom? We are shown only the pictures of the children, women and old folks living in the near Click here to read Full Article
