Rehman Malik must prove as minister & not laughing stock

Our honorable interior minister Rehman Malik who is a blue eyed boy of President Zardari right from day one in recent days have been cut to size not once but twice and had he been a prudent person he must have been on guard not to give any chance to be humiliated again once he had already been rebuked but neither he learnt any lesson nor improved upon and the result is that he got second jolt also which is too much to be honest for a person who has even the slightest self respect in himself.

This times none but his direct boss i.e. Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf stood up against him in connection with issuing new Subscriber Identity Module (SIMS) cards for mobile telephone users. Malik Rehman had issued instructions that now SIMS will not be available at any sales outlets like before rather they will be delivered to the aspirant user at his / her house address which Prime Minister did not like it at all. PM on his part called all the mobile telephone operators to meet him in Islamabad on Thursday and discuss the problem in depth. After hearing those who represented different mobile operating companies PM was left with no option but to override his subordinate and issued the instructions that SIMS will be available and issued to Pakistanis against production of their National Identity Card (NIC) at all the authorized sales outlets only without resorting to the rig morels suggested by the interior minister. PM opined that if Malik Reham instructions are to be followed then the new applicants will be subjected to not only to unnecessary delay in obtaining new SIMS but also to they will also pay some extra money for delivery 0f the same at the residential address of the new applicant.

Earlier Rehman Malik has imposed ban on riding a motorcycle because he opined that the scoundrels use motorbike to either shoot guns or hurl hand grenades so if none can ride the two wheeler the chances of subversive activities will be very minimized if not eliminated and his instructions became operative too but only till the day when it was challenged in a court of low. However, someone had moved an application in Peshawar High Court against the ban on motor cycle riding and as the bad luck had it for Malik Rehman, PHC quashed interior minister’s instructions and lifted the ban so promulgated by him. PHC viewed that Pakistan being a poor country, bulk majority of people do not and cannot own a car, howsoever old it might be, and hence it is the two wheeler only which they can afford to buy and hence if they are deprived of using it then the masses cannot commute from one place to another whereas they had to move around on daily basis for numerous reasons. PHC also opined that terrorists who use motorcycles are just too very small number and it is not justifiable to trouble thousands just  because a few can use it to commit anti social activities.

I have some inner feelings and perhaps I am not that wrong either that our honorable Interior Minister Malik Rehman is a pretty intelligent person and he had not been so unreasonable on two counts and that too in succession but his advisers advised him to issued such like instructions on two-wheeler and SIMS and hence he must take them to task and tell whole of Pakistan as to who advised him and what to absolve himself. However, it is call of the time that from now onward till he is commanding as a minister, interior or any other portfolio, he must not blindly believe what his stooges suggest him and instead he use his own vision and wit to prove to be a judicious and prudent person rather than risking his reputation like he faced humiliation on account the two counts mentioned above.
