As a participant in Google(TM) Code Jam 2005, we thought you would be interested in hearing about Google Code Jam 2006, Powered by TopCoder. In this exciting competition you'll go head to head with some of the most talented coders from all over the world. Google is offering $165,000 in cash and prizes! You might win not only money, but also a prospect to land a job for the future.

Registration is now open for the competition and will remain open through 9:00 AM EDT (GMT/UTC -4) on Tuesday, September 5, 2006. Anyone who intends to compete in this competition must register for the event through the registration path that has been set up exclusively for the tournament. You need to set up a new account for this tournament, even if you have already participated in a Google event before. www.google.com/codejam2006

All registrants will participate in the Qualification Round. The Qualification Round will be open from Tuesday, September 5, at 12:00 PM (noon) EDT (GMT/UTC -4) through Wednesday, September 6, at 12:00 PM (noon) EDT (GMT/UTC -4). During this 24-hour period, each competitor must complete one randomly generated problem set. All competitors will receive a score for their performance on that one problem set.

The top 1,000 participants from the Qualification Round will advance to the first online round, to be held at 10:00 AM EDT (GMT/UTC -4) on Thursday, September 14. The top 500 scorers from Round 1 will advance to Round 2, which will be held at 10:00 AM EDT (GMT/UTC -4) on Tuesday, September 19. The top 250 scorers from Round 2 will receive a commemorative "Google Code Jam 2006" T-shirt.

The top 100 scorers in Round 2 will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Google's office in New York City, New York, United States. Here, they will compete in person in the Championship Round for their share of the $165,000 prize purse on Friday, October 27. The first-place finisher will receive $10,000.
