Syed Ali Geelani, the leader of APHC (All Parties Hurriyet Conference), is 84 years old and has been active in the struggle for Kashmiri self determination for half a century. He is still the symbol as well the leader of the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in resisting military occupation by 700,000 Indian troops. The most important watershed moment in struggle for self determination is the emergence of a single objective and a leader. The objective as articulated by Syed Ali Geelani was expressed eloquently when he said “We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours”. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are a part of the Pakistani nation. Pakistan belongs to them as much as it belongs to Punjabi, Pathans, Sindhi and Baluch of Pakistan. Today the struggle for self determination in J&K is the most important part of the Pakistan Movement. When a cause has resolute leadership with equally resolute support it succeeds in the end. This November 1 speech at Sopore by Syed Ali Geelani is reiteration of the resolve of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people are afraid of India no more.
