Pakistan should shed anti-Islamic practices!
Dr. Abdul Ruff, India
The interconnection between drug abuse and media network is dangerous affecting the humanity in many ways. Pakistan is supposed to be an Islamic nation but they promote all sorts of anti-Islamic evils in the society. There are eight million drug users in the Islamic country of Pakistan which is a considerable jump from three million in 1993 and four million in 2000. Almost 80 percent of the opium processed in Pakistan comes from neighboring countries.
Pakistan has a large number of addicts with the majority of them aged between 15 and 35 years. Besides, heroine and hashish, they use injectable drugs too and are prone to become a victim of HIV/AIDS due to the practice of needle-sharing. Drug abuse, particularly heroin addiction, has been spreading at an alarming rate in Pakistan since the late 70s. It has now become a serious social problem when we see an increase of 100,000 addicts per year. These drug addicts are affecting nearly 20 million dependents and family members with psychological, social and economic repercussions. Many drug users, especially addicts, are not only a burden in economic terms, but become dangerous for the society when they resort to criminal activities for generating income for the purchase of narcotics.
Unfortunately, a good number of Pakistani journalists are drug addicts too and hail the US occupation of Pakistan and supplying the necessary drugs “officially” to Islamabad. American strategists also spot the media where pro-Islamic journalists write and ask them to counter the pro-Islamic wrlitngs and make pro-US Pakistan more forceful. They are worse than Hindus who do the similar job of tracking all global write-ups against Indian terrorism in Kashmir and Jewish terrorism in Palestine; they duly get paid by the US terror occupiers for their anti-Islamic instincts, showing the pro-Islamic defenders of Pakistan and Afghanistan as terrorists. It requires concerted and continuous efforts by the government, NGOs and political and religious leaders. Pakistani Premier Gilani said recently that the government was taking focused steps towards making Lahore a model drug-free city and this initiative would later be extended to the other cities. The PM’s statement reflects the continuance of his efforts against drug abuse in the country.
USA and UK, the strategic terror partners would not let Islamabad become a truly Islamic nation in the near future as they along with India are destabilizing Pakistan by employ8ng the agents from Afghanistan under their collective occupation now. Hopefully, Islamabad would shed its anti-Islamic practices soon.
